What does QQ mean?
QQ was launched in February 1999 under the name OICQ, an acronym for Open ICQ. However, the messaging service ICQ sued them, and they had to change the name to QQ. Its name was chosen because of its resemblance to the English word "cute."
Who is QQ's developer?
QQ is owned by Tencent. This app offers instant messaging, shopping, music, microblogging, games, movies, and much more. Most of its users are from China.
Is QQ available outside of China?
Together with WeChat, QQ is the most widely used instant messaging app in China. The app is intended to be used in China, but you can also create an account from outside the country if you want to talk to people who use it.
